Maliba Research Centre for Excellence in Tissue Culture

Maliba Plant Tissue Culture Lab Recognized from DBT through NCS-TCP

Maliba Research Centre for Excellence in Plant Tissue Culture (MRCEPTC) received Recognition of Tissue Culture Production Facility from Department of Biotechnology (DBT) through NCS-TCP Management Cell.

DBT, Govt. of India is the Tissue Culture Certification Agency which is responsible for implementing the National Certification System for Tissue Culture Raised Plants (NCS-TCP) in the Country and provides support to the Tissue Culture Production Centers for propagating and distribution of virus-free, and quality tissue culture raised plants to growers/farmers.

Of the 78 recognized National Level Laboratories listed in the NCS-TCP book as of now, The Maliba Tissue Culture Production Facilityis the only one Lab within a University. The Maliba Tissue Culture Lab was established with the partial financial support of Rs. 50 Lakhs from Gujarat Horticultural Mission through National Horticultural Mission. Govt. of India, New Delhi and Rs. 50 Lakhs from generous support ofShri. N. G. Patel under the leadership of Prof. Dr.R. Krishnamurthy,Director, C. G. Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology, Uka Tarsadia University.
