About the Workshop

The crash workshops are an intensive period of training with some of the best available resource persons delivering more than 60 formal lecture sessions with mock tests. Aspirants should be ready for an intensive period of learning. There are no fees for the crash workshops however, to ensure that the enrolled aspirants maintain an attendance of over 90%, a refundable deposit of Rs. 1,000 from each aspirant is taken. The training will be for 15 days (8 hrs/day). Food, kits, books & accommodation will be provided at the institution.

Eligibility

Students in the final year of graduation of any of the Biotech or allied subjects (like Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Environmental Sciences/technology, Molecular Biology, Human Genetics, Biosciences, Botany, Zoology and others) can apply for crash workshop. The number of students will be selected as per regulations of GSBTM.

About the University

The establishment of Uka Tarsadia University in 2011 by the Bardoli Pradesh Kelavani Mandal .The University offers admissions in a comprehensive array of academic programs across the disciplines of Management, Computer Science, Engineering and Technology, Bio Technology, Micro Biology, Science, Pharmacy, Commerce, Nursing, Physiotherapy and others that lead students to self-enrichment and productive careers in their respective professions. UTU is established under Gujarat Private University Act No. 25 - 2011 Government of Gujarat and approved under section 22 of UGC Act 1956 and accredited by NAAC with B+ Grade.

About CGBIBT

C. G. Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology (CGBIBT) is a constituent institute of Uka Tarsadia University. It was established in year 2005 for initiating exclusive education in Biotechnology and Applied Science. It offers under graduate, post graduate programs, PGDMLT and doctoral research program in the fields of Biotechnology and Microbiology. Since its establishment, CGBIBT has been striving to emerge as a centre of excellence in imparting career-based knowledge to the students to realize their professional ambition. Many research projects funded by central government agencies in the field of Biotechnology and Microbiology are being carried out. In addition to, CGBIBT has also taken up a mission to support the local farming community to grow profitable crops by supplying quality planting materials to them from the sophisticated plant tissue culture lab and climate control green house established and accredited by DBT.

About Coordinator

This BT-CBC (Biotechnology-Capacity Building Cell) is coordinated by Dr. Gopal Jee Gopal, Assistant Professor, C. G. Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology, Uka Tarsadia University. and supported by several faculties having very good academic background. He has more than 12 years of academic and research experience.

His academic credentials include a PhD from Special centre of Molecular medicine (JNU, New Delhi). He has also received DS Kothari Postdoctoral fellowship. He was also awarded Fast track young Scientists (DST-SERB). He was the 1st ranker (AIR) in JNU PhD entrance test. He has qualified several National level competitive examinations including NET-JRF and JNU-CEEB. Published several research articles, book chapters and books through reputed publishing houses.

To his credit he has more than 170 invited lectures in several symposiums, seminars and conferences. He regularly conducts online courses. Until now, he has conducted online courses regularly on ‘Recombinant DNA Technology’ (nearly 30 batches) and ‘Basics of Genomics and Proteomics’ (Nearly 10 batches), followed by ‘Chemistry and mathematics for biologists’ (As per students demand from 2023 it was started online, which was offline earlier). He also regularly conducts offline workshops supported by GSBTM (Govt of Gujarat).

To his expertise he is a mentor and an advisor to various biotechnology companies such as, ChemBiobridge research and innovation Pvt. Ltd (GB Nagar), SLS Research Pvt. Ltd (Surat), DNAxpert Pvt ltd (New Delhi), Genexplore diagnostic Pvt.Ltd (Ahmedabad) and others.

About Co-Coordinator

This unit is co-coordinated by Dr NCh Srivathsa, CG Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology, Uka Tarsadia University. Since its inception he was affiliated with this unit. He completed his doctoral studies from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala, Sweden). He has been associated with the Uka Tarsadia University from 2014 working as an Assistant professor.

Our Success

Our centre (NBT-CBC- UTU) has successfully conducted four batches since its inception in 2018. In 2024, our centre was awarded one of the best performing centre in Gujarat among all the centres. Many students who underwent training from our centre have qualified the IIT-JAM, GAT-B, GATE and NET examinations.
